Open Houses

One of the best ways to discover what makes Covenant a special place is to attend one of our open houses. We want you to hear the joyful voices that echo down our grammar school halls and to see the passion of our dialectic and rhetoric students as they wrestle with some of the great ideas of our civilization. Discover the classical path to academic excellence by attending one of our upcoming Open House events.

6 STEPS FOR APPLYING TO COVENANT CHRISTIAN ACADEMY ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR FALL

1.  GETTING STARTED

We are delighted that you want to learn more about the joyful rigor of classical Christian education at Covenant. We hope you have found our website to be helpful, but the best way to get to know us is to see our school in person. Please contact our Admissions Office (717-540-9885) to set up a personal tour. Our Head of School, Dr. David Sonju, would also be pleased to meet you and answer questions that you may have. We also invite you to attend one of our Open Houses held at various times throughout the year. These events provide a more comprehensive look at our entire PreK–12 program and give you an opportunity to meet and ask questions of our faculty.

2.  SUBMITTING AN APPLICATION

Once you are convinced that Covenant is the right choice for your family, your next step is to submit an application. Your admissions file is opened when we receive a completed application and $200 fee. The application fee covers the cost of our screening process and also helps to ensure that our applicants are making a carefully considered decision. If the application is unsuccessful, 50% of the fee will be refunded.  Once we receive your completed application and fee we will arrange a suitable time for academic testing and interviews.

3.  UNDERSTANDING US

We want your family to fully embrace our Christ-centered classical curriculum. In order to make the most of your partnership with Covenant, it is important to understand what we do and why we do it.  We strongly encourage parents to read the following 45-page book prior to their interview:

An Introduction to Classical Education by Christopher A. Perrin.

4.  TESTING

All students applying for entrance will be tested at their appropriate grade level to ensure they are prepared for the academic rigors of our classical curriculum. Students applying for admission to grades 5-12 may also be required to take a placement exam for one subject or another, particularly mathematics.

5.  THE INTERVIEW

The family or parent interview is a vital part of the admissions process.  Once all paperwork and testing is complete, we will schedule a family interview.  The interview provides a time for us to get to know one another more personally and an opportunity for you to ask questions. Both the student and parents will participate in the interview.

6.  TIMING

Ideally, the process begins in the fall of the academic year prior to the year your student hopes to attend. After we admit families for the next year’s available seats, we are happy to consider applications for remaining seats during the spring and summer months. These applications are accepted and evaluated on a rolling basis and spaces are offered as available. If an applicant and family are found to be admissible but no space is available at that time you have the option of remaining in a waiting pool to be considered should a spot become available.
